FIXATION OF DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE WAR

The war brought irreparable losses to Ukraine. In addition to millions of mutilated lives and lives, citizens’ property also suffered losses. The damage caused by the war is difficult to assess, because it is not only about people’s houses and property, but also about jobs, finished businesses, goods, entire enterprises. And this list can be continued for a long time. Everyone hopes to receive compensation, but it is worth understanding that in order to receive such compensation, it is necessary to correctly record the damage caused.

Fixation of damage

Fixation of damages can be conditionally divided into two parts. This is fixation with the help of authorized bodies and independent fixation.

Fixation of the damage caused by authorized persons

If the enterprise or property of a legal entity or individual is destroyed or damaged as a result of hostilities and there is an opportunity to call special services, it should be done. It can be the police, emergency services. Representatives of these services can record the damage and issue a corresponding certificate. This act should be kept properly. But such services do not always have the opportunity to go to the scene. In this case, it is necessary to record the damage yourself.

Independent recording of war damage

You can record the damage yourself by taking photos and videos, as well as drawing up a damage report.

If photos and videos are taken, then it is good that the media should be able to see the date and time of shooting (for example, in the photo) or turn on geolocation during video recording.

If video recording or photography is carried out, it is advisable to also take a picture of the area, as well as the damaged property.

Another independent type of fixation is drawing up an act of damage. It can be drawn up in any form with an indication of the person who draws it up, a detailed description of the event and the losses and damages caused. The act must be signed by the person who drew it up and in the presence of several other persons, indicating their contact details.

Witnesses and other evidence

One more type of recording damage as a result of the war can be called the testimony of witnesses. If there were people nearby who saw the damage, it is worth saving their contact details for future reports to the competent authorities. Do not forget about video surveillance cameras. if there are other surviving objects nearby and video surveillance could be installed on them, you should make sure that the video surveillance records are saved.

All collected evidence of war damage must be properly preserved and multiple copies made. When providing evidence to the competent authorities, copies of recorded losses should be provided.
