Applying for a visa to Ukraine
For foreigners traveling to Ukraine, visa assistance may be appropriate. The migration lawyers at “Prikhodko&Partners” Law Firm know how to help, as this is our specialty. First, you need to determine whether a visa is required for your specific situation. Let’s take a closer look at this issue.
Who needs a visa to Ukraine?
While a long-term visa is required for all foreigners traveling to Ukraine, short-term and transit visas are required for citizens of countries that do not have a visa-free regime with Ukraine.
Typically, citizens of countries such as India, China, Pakistan, and many African countries travel to Ukraine on a visa. Citizens of visa-required countries can apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa) for short-term trips, such as those related to tourism or business.
Transit visa (type B)
If your destination is a country neighboring Ukraine and you are transiting through Ukrainian territory (with passengers or cargo), you will need a category “B” visa. It is issued for one, two, or multiple entries, but remember: such a transit is allowed for no more than 5 days. Type “B” visas are available for single, double, or multiple entries.
Short-term visa (type C)
If there’s no visa-free travel between Ukraine and your country, you’ll need a category “C” visa. It operates under the “90/180” rule (up to three months’ stay in a six-month period). It’s most often issued for private travel, tourism, or business matters.
Long-term visa (type D)
A “D” visa is the basis for obtaining a permit for long-term stay or residence in Ukraine (more than 90 days). It is issued as a multiple-entry visa with a validity of 90 days. With this visa, a foreigner has the right to apply to the competent authorities for a temporary or permanent residence permit.
Documents required to obtain a visa
To ensure a hassle-free visa application, you need to gather a complete set of documents. The list of required documents will depend on the reason for your visa application. The general list is as follows:
- a foreign national’s passport or stateless person’s ID card (the passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the declared date of departure from Ukraine. It must also contain at least 2 blank pages and be valid for no more than 10 years);
- a completed and signed visa application;
- insurance covering the entire visa validity period;
- documents confirming sufficient financial support for the period of the planned stay and for return to the country of origin or transit to a third country;
- a document confirming payment of the consular fee;
- documents confirming the purpose of stay in Ukraine.
Visa application documents can be submitted to visa centers or embassies abroad. Regarding processing times, the visa processing time is approximately 5-10 business days.
Why should you hire legal support services?
Legal support for visa applications involves more than just filling out forms. It includes a thorough analysis of your situation, selection of the right visa type, and assistance with document collection and submission. Our specialists are results-oriented and know how to minimize the risk of visa denial.
So, the benefits of your appeal will be:
- Minimizing the risk of refusal. A professional migration lawyer is well-versed in the requirements for a specific visa type at the time of application. They can help you avoid mistakes.
- Assembling a complete document package. A practicing lawyer who regularly handles such cases knows how to confirm the primary reason for a visa, financial solvency, and what additional documents to include.
- Saving time and energy. You won’t have to independently study complex legal regulations or navigate queues at consulates. A lawyer from “Prikhodko&Partners” will handle all routine matters and communication with government agencies.
- Assessing your history and risks. If you have previously been refused or have migration violations, obtaining a visa may be more difficult than without these factors. Therefore, a lawyer will carefully analyze your situation and develop a strategy.
- Turnkey support. From the first consultation to receiving your visa, you will receive support every step of the way.
You can order our consulting and legal support services, which will ensure a smooth visa application process. Our specialist will handle all aspects of the process that don’t require your personal presence.
