Case: An error in the client’s surname in “Reserve+” has been corrected
A person liable for military service who was residing abroad contacted Prikhodko & Partners Law Firm. His surname was incorrectly recorded in the Reserve+ application. Due to this discrepancy in his personal information, the client was unable to collect his passport.
An error in personal information in the military registration system may seem minor. However, it can prevent a person from resolving important administrative and documentation issues, especially when they cannot travel to Ukraine and visit a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRSSC) in person.
What did we discover when analyzing the client’s situation?
Diana, a military law specialist at Prikhodko & Partners, investigated the cause of the discrepancy. It turned out that a technical error had been made in the client’s surname in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service, and Reservists. The information in the register did not match the details in his identity documents.
Since the client was abroad, correcting the error independently was difficult: he could not visit the TRSSC and submit an application in person.
How did the lawyer at Prikhodko & Partners proceed?
Diana handled the case in two stages.
- Application for correction of personal data. The lawyer prepared and submitted an application on behalf of the client requesting corrections to the register. The application described the error and included supporting documents.
- Follow-up through a formal attorney’s request. To prevent unnecessary delays and ensure that the correction request was properly processed, the lawyer submitted a formal attorney’s request to the TRSSC. In the request, she asked for information about the outcome of the application. This approach made it possible to obtain official written confirmation of the result rather than waiting indefinitely for a response.
Result for the client
In response to the attorney’s request, the TRSSC confirmed that the client’s personal information had been corrected in accordance with his identity documents. The client was also advised to update the Reserve+ application and verify that his information was displayed correctly.
The error was corrected, and the client received written confirmation. As a result, he was able to resolve the issue with his passport without having to return to Ukraine solely to correct his surname. The client was satisfied with the outcome.
This case demonstrates that even a technical error in Reserve+ records can have significant consequences. Such errors can be corrected remotely if the application is properly prepared and its processing is monitored through a formal attorney’s request.
If you have noticed an error in your personal information in Reserve+ or the military registration system but cannot visit the TRSSC in person (for example, because you are abroad), do not delay correcting it.
