Registration for military registration
The issue of military registration is regulated by two key regulatory legal acts. We are talking about the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization”, as well as the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 16, 2024 № 560. If you wish to order the service of legal support for military registration, the lawyers of the law firm “Prikhodko & Partners” are ready to effectively help in this matter. You can also contact us if you want to order a legal consultation on these issues, where a specialist will analyze in detail the circumstances of your specific situation and help you decide on a strategy of action in the legal plane.
How does military registration work?
Registration for military service is carried out by territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and JV). This occurs at the place of registration or actual residence of the military-liable citizen. This procedure provides for:
- Contacting the TCC and JV. This is a personal visit, the purpose of which is to submit an application for military registration.
- Submission of an accompanying package of documents. These can be both basic documents required for registration, and additional documentation, if the citizen, for example, has the right to a deferment.
- Passing the MMC. The purpose of the medical examination is to assess the state of health in order to determine the degree of fitness for service.
- Obtaining a military registration document. This is the final stage and allows you to receive a military ID or a registration certificate. It should be noted that under martial law, all men of draft age are required to have a military ID with them when leaving home. Therefore, registration for military service is important for those who are not yet registered.
Let us now consider the categories of citizens to whom the legal requirement to be registered for military service applies.
Who is subject to military registration?
According to the current legislation regulating this issue, the following are subject to military registration:
- Male citizens of Ukraine who are fit for military service due to their health. This requirement applies to men aged 17 to 60.
- Female citizens of Ukraine who are subject to military service. This applies to those who have a medical or pharmaceutical education and are fit for military service due to their health and age.
So, if these categories of citizens do not register for military service, they may receive significant fines for violating the relevant legislation. Let’s look at this in more detail.
What happens if you don’t register: liability?
If a citizen liable for military service does not register for military service, this is punishable by a fine of 17 to 25.5 thousand hryvnia. This is the type of liability provided for by Article 210 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Therefore, it is better not to ignore legislative requirements, so as not to have problems with the law later.
In addition, for evading military registration obligations, additional sanctions may be applied to a person, such as restrictions on travel abroad or other administrative measures.
It is also very important to know that a person who has paid a fine is not exempt from the obligation to register for military service. Therefore, it is better to immediately take care of compliance with the law, so as not to expose yourself to significant sanctions due to its violation.
Registration for military service abroad
Those citizens of Ukraine who are abroad for more than 3 months are required to register for military service. To do this, you need to contact the relevant diplomatic or consular institution of Ukraine. The procedure for applying is as follows:
- First, you need to contact a diplomatic mission to submit an application for military registration in person or by mail.
- When contacting a diplomatic mission, you need to provide the documents required by law in order to be registered for military service. This includes a passport, medical certificates, education documents, and other documents specified by law.
- The next step is to receive confirmation of registration. The military-liable citizen receives such confirmation after the documents have been processed.
To ensure that everything goes smoothly, it is important to provide a complete package of required documents.
What documents are needed to register for military service?
The following documents are required for registration:
- passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
- certificate of individual tax number;
- documents on education;
- medical certificates;
- photo of the established form;
- other documents.
As for the last point, this includes military registration documents issued earlier. This may also be a marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, etc.
Accompanying a lawyer to register for military registration
Although Ukrainian legislation does not provide for mandatory participation of a lawyer during military registration, such assistance can be very useful. For example, if a citizen has questions or doubts about the procedure, the best solution would be to contact a qualified lawyer for advice and legal assistance.
It is important to note that legislation may change, so it is recommended to regularly check the current regulatory legal acts. By consulting with a specialist on this topic, you will keep your finger on the pulse of important news in the legal field and will not miss anything that may directly concern your situation.
