+38 (073) 007-44-51Updating military registration data is a significant process whose importance is often underestimated. Let’s take a closer look at the legal regulation of this issue, common legal issues, and how the services of “Prikhodko & Partners” Law Firm can be helpful in updating data.
Why is data updating important?
In 2025, during martial law, mobilizations of individuals eligible for a deferment increased precisely because their military registration data had not been updated.
In practice, individuals are sometimes detained by TCC employees even if they are fully eligible for a deferment but have not updated their data in the “Oberig” or “Reserve+” systems.
Law on updating data in the TCC
Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine “On mobilization preparation and mobilization” obliges conscripts to change their information within 7 days of changing their place of residence, marital status, education, etc.
No less significant is Cabinet of Ministers Resolution № 560, which defines the mechanism for granting a deferment, one of the conditions of which is up-to-date military registration data. As for the Procedure for maintaining military registration, it is reflected in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution № 1487, which stipulates the specific data that must be entered and updated.
What data needs to be updated?
Data that requires updating includes:
- residence address/actual place of stay;
- marital status;
- presence of children;
- education;
- employment status;
- health status (this is especially relevant in cases where there are grounds for a deferment);
- status regarding the deferment (this refers to the presence or absence of a certificate).
Failure to update their data while still liable for military service leads to legal consequences. Specifically, this includes a fine of 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias.
What happens if the data has not been updated since the beginning of martial law?
If a conscript fails to update their data, such a violation of military registration rules may result in not only administrative but even disciplinary liability. This applies to those conscripts who have already received a summons or have had contact with the TCC.
Failure to update your data also risks mobilization without regard for your rights. This is because TCC representatives will not see any grounds for a deferment or medical restrictions.
Legal assistance in updating data
Among the services that a military lawyer can provide in this area, the following should be noted:
- Legal support for updating data in the TCC. When such a case is handled by a professional lawyer for whom this work is routine and familiar, it greatly increases your chances of successfully resolving all issues related to proper military registration within the legal framework.
- Analysis of your military registration document (paper or from the Reserve+ system). We’ll determine if your military registration document is in good condition, whether it meets legal requirements, and whether it reflects your situation.
- If you don’t have the document, we can help you restore or retrieve the data. This is necessary to generate a new MRD, which you can use without exposing yourself to the risk of being mobilized by force in the event of a chance encounter with TCC representatives on the street.
- Accompanying you directly to the TCC to avoid mobilization on the spot. Unfortunately, cases of TCC representatives abusing their authority are frequently reported. Sometimes this even leads to mobilization when there are grounds for a deferment. To avoid such a situation, it’s best to arrange for physical escort to the TCC from your military lawyer.
- Proper strategic planning: phased update, application submission, and preparation of deferral grounds. This implies a full range of support services.
- If you have any problems, we can help you remove your name from the wanted list, update your records, or file complaints. We can also help you defend your rights in administrative court if the actions, decisions, or inactions of TCC representatives could constitute an offense against you.
Our law firm’s lawyers provide a wide range of services in the field of military law, thereby facilitating our clients’ registration, data updating, and other interactions with the TCC.
To sum it up…
Thus, updating military registration data is not a formality, but a necessary legal action that affects:
- the ability to exercise the right to a deferment;
- protection from illegal mobilization;
- legality of interaction with the TCC.
Therefore, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with a military lawyer in order to:
- avoid mistakes;
- save time;
- avoid getting into a situation where the right to a deferment is simply overlooked due to bureaucracy.
