Practical case study on obtaining Hungarian citizenship
In March 2024, Clients – a mother with a minor son – turned to the practice of international migration. They were interested in the issue of obtaining Hungarian citizenship by origin.
The first stage – researching the family tree
The case was taken up by migration law lawyer Yelyzaveta Mazur. The support began with the compilation and analysis of the Client’s family tree in order to trace the Hungarian origin by nationality or territorial affiliation. The second stage – collection of documentation
We restored all archival records of the Client’s ancestors’ births in the territories of Ukraine (Transcarpathia), which were part of Hungary. Interaction with the archives to restore the necessary documents took approximately 2 months from the date of signing the agreement on the provision of legal assistance with the Client. The third stage – submission of documents

The fourth stage – interview
After 6 months of consideration of the case, the clients were invited to an interview at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary (Belügyminisztérium). After successfully completing the interview, they obtained the final documentary basis for Hungarian citizenship. So now the client and her son are holders of passports of the Republic of Hungary.
