Electronic queue for foreign passports
Registration of a foreign passport when a person is abroad is a pressing topic on which clients of the Prikhodko & Partners law office seek advice. We work in it with high quality, because migration law is our specialization. So, if you need solid legal support, we know how to help you. In the meantime, we’ll tell you about the features of obtaining a passport abroad.
What do you need to know first?
In order to join the electronic queue for the purpose of issuing a passport, you need to authorize Diya.Signature or Electronic Signature Key through the Central Certification Authority (CCA). Then you will have the opportunity to join the queue at the State Enterprise “Document” abroad. As for consulates, identification in this way is not yet required.
There are representative offices of the state enterprise “Document” in countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Spain.
What documents are needed to obtain a passport?
As for the list of documents, it all depends on who it is intended for. If this is a child, then the package of documents is submitted by parents, guardians or other authorized persons. The documents should include:
- original birth certificate of the child;
- any document confirming the identity of the parents or guardians submitting the child’s documents (preferably a passport);
- guardian identification code.
If the child already had a passport, it will need to be submitted to the consulate.
What has changed for women?
As you know, in April the legislation of Ukraine changed in many ways, and in May these changes came into force. They affected both men and women with a medical or pharmaceutical specialty. Today, practically nothing has changed for women in obtaining a passport. However, if we are talking specifically about those liable for military service, then in this case they may be asked to update the data through the “Reserve+” application.
What do men aged 18 to 60 need to obtain a passport?
The requirements for men are somewhat higher. To obtain a passport, you need to provide:
- military registration document;
- updated data in the Reserve+ application (or the diplomatic representative at the embassy or consulate will update them independently);
- internal passport of a citizen of Ukraine and a passport for traveling abroad.
They may also ask about the residence of the host country. If we are talking about issuing a foreign passport for those citizens who traveled for permanent residence to another country, then the paperwork takes place exactly in the state where the citizen received a residence permit.
