What is the procedure for obtaining a passport?When a passport is issued for an adult or a child over 12 years old, the index fingerprints are scanned. This is not necessary for children under 12 years of age. It is very important, when the application form is filled out, to check whether the data is entered correctly. It is especially worth looking at whether the transliteration of the last name and first name is correct. This is important so that later there are no problems with inconsistencies in different documents.
To obtain a passport, you must provide the following package of documents:
- application form (it is printed by the employee receiving the documents);
- internal passport (this requirement is relevant for persons over 14 years of age);
- birth certificate or other document confirming the fact of birth (the second applies to situations where the document was issued by the competent authorities of another state);
- a certificate of registration of a person as a citizen of Ukraine, if at the time of the child’s birth one of the parents was a foreigner or a stateless person;
- documents confirming that the person has paid the administrative fee.
The digitized image of the person required for the passport is obtained by photographing at the institution itself. However, there may be exceptions. They apply to children under 12 years of age and persons who, having a long-term health disorder, cannot move independently and are not able to arrive, but need treatment abroad. This must be confirmed by an appropriate medical certificate. In such cases, you can submit one photo 10×15 centimeters in order to add a digitized image of the face to documents by scanning.
The package of documents required to obtain a passport will differ depending on the circumstances of the applicant in a particular situation. For example, if the previous passport was lost or stolen, an extract from the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is also added to other documentation. The list of documents will also differ when it comes to exchanging a passport. In this case, you will need to add the passport that is being exchanged. Thus, the requirements are different in different cases.
