Schengen travel visa
A Schengen visa is a document that allows its holder to freely travel to the Schengen zone. Such a visa can be of different types – work, tourist, transit, etc. The type of visa that the applicant applies for depends on the need for which he is traveling to the Schengen zone. Despite the fact that Ukraine has had a visa-free regime with the EU for several years, it covers only 90 days out of 180. So when these days are used, and there is a need to travel to a Schengen country, you need to apply for an appropriate visa.
If you need a Schengen tourist visa, you can contact the lawyers of the law firm “Prikhodko&Partners” with such a request. We know very well how to really effectively help our clients by providing consulting services and legal support in this area.
What is worth knowing about the Schengen zone and the appropriate visa?
As part of the answer to this question, the following points should be noted:
The Schengen area includes 26 participating countries;
- 22 of these countries are EU members;
- Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein are not EU members, but they have joined the Schengen Agreement, thereby supporting the policy of free movement within the Schengen Area;
the validity period of a Schengen visa depends on the purpose of the trip; - this visa takes the form of a sticker that is pasted into the passport;
- the form of a Schengen visa is the same for all countries.
When one Schengen country issues such a visa, its recipient can freely travel through other countries that have joined this agreement. Thus, there is no need to apply for multiple visas.
What documents are required to apply for a tourist visa?
Each type of visa provides its own list of documents that are required for its application. For example, when it comes to a tourist visa, these are:
- a bank statement for the last 6 months;
- a certificate from the place of work regarding the provision of vacation in case you are employed;
- a detailed itinerary of your trip to the Schengen area, confirmation of hotel booking or an invitation from a resident of a Schengen country;
- confirmation of ticket booking;
- proof of sufficient funds for the entire period of stay in the Schengen area;
- an original internal passport and birth certificate.
Thus, a person traveling to the Schengen area must show that he has sufficient funds for this, and the stated purpose of the trip is indeed credible. Such requirements are related to the fact that representatives of the authorized bodies issuing the visa are sure that the applicant does not intend to enter and stay in the Schengen area illegally.
If you plan to travel to one Schengen country, then you need to apply for a tourist visa at its consulate/embassy. But if you intend to travel around Europe, then you should decide in which Schengen country you plan to spend the most time. It is at the consulate of such a country that you should apply for a visa. If you plan to spend approximately the same amount of time in each country, then it would be appropriate to apply for a visa for the one you plan to visit first.

What is the validity period of a Schengen tourist visa?
This visa is short-term. Therefore, it is valid for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period. The application and documents must be submitted in person. However, high-quality legal support for this procedure may be appropriate for you, given a number of reasons:
- a lawyer will help you make an appointment at the consulate;
- The specialist will provide detailed information on the full list of documents that are relevant in your situation;
- in the event of an unfounded refusal to issue a visa, a lawyer will help to appeal such a decision by the consular office.
For example, if you apply for a Schengen visa through a Polish consular office and receive a refusal, you are given a 14-day period to appeal such a decision. It is calculated from the moment of receipt of the relevant decision.
In the event that a person has received the cancellation or annulment of his Schengen visa, he has the right to appeal it in case of disagreement. However, if the applicant himself requested such cancellation and the consul granted his request, then there is no right to appeal.
It is worth noting that there are quite a few legal nuances in the issue of issuing a Schengen visa, which are much better to resolve with a lawyer. This significantly increases the chances of a positive result.
