Case: Obtaining a transit visa to Moldova for a citizen of Nigeria
Our international migration lawyers were contacted by a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria whose documents on the territory of Ukraine, namely a temporary residence permit, had expired.

First of all, the lawyer’s work began with the analysis of the Client’s documents to establish the actual circumstances of obtaining a transit visa and drawing up the correct algorithms for filling out questionnaires, preparing the correct package of documents to substantiate the reasons for traveling to Moldova, and registering for submission.
The Client’s main request was: to obtain a visa in a short time, saving time for submission at the consulate in Ukraine.
The main problem: The Client received 3 refusals for transit visas, illegal residence in Ukraine due to the inability to renew a temporary residence permit for 5 years, because of which the Client had to go to his country to apply for a visa to Ukraine again.
Additionally, the Client was provided with support in preparing all the necessary questionnaires and sent by personal delivery before submission. Standard list of documents:
- International passport (valid for at least 3 months after return).
- Copy of passport.
- Confirmation of the route (airline tickets, bus or train tickets).
- Explanatory letter about the purpose of transit.
- Financial documents (bank statement).
- Valid residence permit in Ukraine, or data on previous Ukrainian documents that have expired.
- Medical insurance covering the period of stay.
On 04.04.2025, the Client with a Nigerian passport applied, accompanied by a lawyer, to the Moldovan Consulate in Kyiv for a type “B” visa.
Already on April 10, 2025, we received a ready passport with a 4-month transit visa affixed. Multi-entry visa with a stay in the country of 5 days.
Important: A transit visa does not allow you to stay in Moldova for any other purpose (work, study, tourism).
You can apply through accredited visa centers or with the help of an immigration lawyer.
