RECEIVING A GRANT FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL AND THEIR RELATIVES

As part of the expansion of the state project “e-Robota”, the Government of Ukraine has introduced new grant areas aimed at veterans, as well as their family members.  

The goal of the initiative is to ensure the effective adaptation of defenders to civilian life by supporting their entrepreneurial ambitions. The program provides  for the provision of non-refundable financial assistance in the amount of up to UAH 1 million.  

The key requirement for grantees remains the development of the labor market through the creation of new jobs.

Who can receive this grant?   

The target audience of the grant program is:   

• servicemen who took part in hostilities, or persons with disabilities received during the war;   
• close relatives, namely wives and husbands of veterans or persons with disabilities;   
• persons listed above, who have either already opened a sole proprietorship or are just planning to do business.    

It is worth emphasizing that whether you are an experienced businessman or just planning to set up a business, you can count on receiving this grant.   

How much can you get for the business of veterans and their family members?   

The state program offers three levels of funding depending on the scale of the business project and the status of the applicant:   

• up to UAH 250,000 — subject to the creation of 1 new workplace (for UBI, persons with disabilities as a result of the war and the second spouse);   
• up to UAH 500,000 — when creating at least 2 jobs (for UBI, persons with disabilities as a result of the war and the second spouse);  
• up to UAH 1,000,000 — subject to the creation of at least 4 jobs, 2 of which will also be occupied by veterans, and the possibility of self-financing 30% of the project (for exclusively veterans who have been registered as a sole proprietorship or legal entity for at least 1 year).     

It is important to know! Obtaining grant funds also implies the fulfillment of conditions for the duration of job creation. Therefore, if a business plans to work for 3 years, then it is necessary to employ people for 2 years or more. If 5 years – 4 years, 7 years – 6 years, respectively.     

What can grant funds be spent on?    

• Purchase of furniture, equipment and vehicles (100% of grant funds can be used);   
• Purchase of software licenses (up to 50%);   
• Purchase of goods and services, animals, seedlings, raw materials and materials necessary for the implementation of the business plan (up to 70%);   
• Offline and online marketing (up to 10%);   
• Payment for the rent of commercial premises or land plots (up to 25%);   
• Payment for rent (up to 30%) or leasing (up to 50%) of equipment, except for your own car;   
• Franchise acquisition.  

Who cannot receive a grant for veterans and their family members?     

1. Persons who plan to operate in the temporarily occupied territories, or on the territory of aggressor countries (russia and belarus);   
2. Sanctioned persons;   
3. Legal entities against which bankruptcy proceedings have been initiated;   
4. Non-state or investment pension funds, Insurance or credit organizations, pawnshops and securities market participants   
5. Currency exchangers, businesses for the production or manufacture of alcohol, tobacco products or weapons;   
6. Individuals or legal entities prosecuted for corruption;   
7. The presence of debts to the state;   
8. Production or trade of pesticides / herbicides subject to international phase-outs or prohibitions;   
9. Owners of medical institutions and pharmacies.     

How long does it take to process an application for this grant?   

The State Employment Center considers the application within 10 working days after the deadline for submission.
