Compensation for material damage caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

The war changed the life of every Ukrainian. These changes concern the destruction by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the illegal terrorist group “LPR/DPR” controlled by it of a large amount of property of citizens and businesses. The amount of damage caused by military aggression amounts to more than 600-750 billion dollars.

The most destroyed were citizens’ homes, vehicles and non-residential premises that are used for commercial purposes.

All these losses, according to the norms of current legislation, fall under the concept of material damage.

Article 1166 of the Civil Code of Ukraine establishes the general grounds for compensation for material damage, thus, material damage is compensated to the person who suffered it in full, of course, if such damage is proven.

Also, in situations provided for by law, material damage caused by damage to the health of an individual due to force majeure is compensated.

What amount of compensation for moral damage can I receive?

By material damage it is necessary to understand the most destroyed or lost property as a result of being hit by rockets, suicide bombers, artillery shells and the occupation of the territory.

What is the operating procedure?

• First of all, the work process begins with an assessment and analysis of the client’s specific situation in order to determine an effective way to protect the right to receive compensation;
• the next step is to collect the necessary documents confirming ownership of the destroyed or lost property in order to further determine its value;
