- then you need to get a job, get a work permit, apply for a work visa and a residence permit in order to legally stay and work in Switzerland
DOCUMENTS GIVING THE RIGHT TO WORK IN SWITZERLAND
Among the requirements and restrictions:
- the priority of the local workforce;
- work permit quotas (if the quotas for work in Switzerland for citizens of third countries are exhausted, the permit will not be issued; a quota of 4,500 units has been established for 2020);
- knowledge of the state language;
- compliance of the salary level with recognized values;
- the ability to integrate into Swiss society.
You can work in Switzerland on the basis of the following documents:
- Temporary residence permit L: This permit is issued to persons residing in Switzerland for a limited period of time (most often 1 year) with a specific purpose of stay. Most citizens of the EU/EFTA countries who can confirm an employment relationship for a period of 3 months to one year (employment contract) have the right to obtain this permit.
- Residence permit B: This permit is granted to persons staying in Switzerland for a long period of time. Most EU/EFTA citizens are eligible if they can prove that they have been working in Switzerland for more than one year (employment contract). The permit is issued to citizens of the EU/EFTA countries for a period of 5 years. For persons from other countries, the validity period is 1 year. After that, it is necessary to submit an application for extension of the validity period. The extension of the validity period may be related to the fulfillment of certain conditions by these persons, for example, attending German language courses. They do not have the right to extend the validity period. Reasons that may oppose the extension of the validity period are, for example, a criminal offense or dependency on social security. Recognized refugees also receive a permit V.
Important! In Switzerland, work permits are issued within a specified number of places – that is, annual quotas are set for jobs that can be occupied by foreigners. Most often, foreigners from third countries work in unskilled professions, because privileges are granted only to citizens living on the territory of the EU.
