Through naturalization, citizenship can be obtained under the following conditions:

  • A family in which one person is Swiss and the other is a foreign citizen. The marriage must last at least three years. It is also important for a foreigner to live in Switzerland for a total of at least 5 years. Marriage should not be recognized as fictitious.
  • People who have or want to create their own business in the state. As an option, you can invest a certain amount in the country’s economy.
  • Persons with refugee status. They need to live in Switzerland for at least 5 years.
  • Foreigners who have a residence permit and have lived in the country for 10 years.
  • Gifted figures of culture, science, sports and art, as well as people who have special merits for the country.

  • you must live without leaving the country for three of the five years preceding the submission of the application;
  • have a permanent residence permit (permit C); residence under other types of permits (temporary) is counted only half;
  • not have a criminal record;
