RESIDENCE PERMIT BASED ON MARRIAGE

This reason is the most common among all other reasons that help to obtain a residence permit in Ukraine. If a foreigner and a citizen of Ukraine get married on the territory of our state, the foreigner has the legal right to obtain a residence permit for a period of one year. To get such a certificate, you need to follow the following algorithm:

• leave the country first;
• then change the visa, as the purpose of accommodation in Ukraine changes;
• return to Ukraine with an updated visa;
• continue in the prescribed manner the processing of documents for a permanent residence permit.

It is also worth paying attention to the exceptions when it comes to visa-free countries. Although it is not necessary to change the visa in this situation, you will still have to leave Ukraine and return after the marriage.

What other options are there for obtaining a residence permit?

The example described above is not the only option for obtaining a residence permit. It is also available in cases where two foreigners marry, one of whom has already received permission to immigrate to our country. The algorithm is as follows:

• a visa is issued for the purpose of family reunification;
• the marriage certificate is legalized and translated into Ukrainian;
• documents are prepared to confirm that the family has sufficient financial resources to obtain the document.

Permanent residence permit

When the marriage of a citizen of Ukraine with a foreigner lasts for more than 2 years, it enables the foreigner to obtain a permit for permanent residence in our country on the basis of marriage. • issuing an immigration permit;
• further issuance of a permanent residence permit based on this permit.
