WORK PERMIT IN UKRAINE

Reading time: 4 min.

A work permit in Ukraine is issued not by the foreigner himself, but by his future employer. Other actions in this direction depend on the foreigner. For example, this is the provision of a document confirming education, and passing a medical examination. The diploma must be legalized and apostilled. A medical examination provides legal support.

What are the responsibilities of an employer?

When it comes to a work permit in Ukraine, the employer, for its part, must prepare all the necessary documents. When they are translated, you need to submit them to the authorized body and get permission. We are talking about the State Employment Service. Next, a copy of the permission is made to make a visa D.

It is important that the employer, for its part, issue a permit before hiring a person. Otherwise, he faces a fine of 20 minimum wages.

An application for a permit is made as follows:

  • First, the employer submits to the State Employment Service information that there is a demand for the profession.
  • Then after 15 days he writes an application to get permission.
  • Another 15 days the employer is waiting for what will be the result of the review.
  • If the answer is yes, the employer transfers to the account of the SPSS payment, which is equal to 4 minimum wages.
  • And another 10 days after paying the fee is waiting for the issuance of a permit.

When it comes to foreigners who are taken to management positions, this is possible only if they participate in the enterprise as a co-founder or if there is a copyright that the company will use.

What documents are needed to obtain a permit?

The employer submits to the PES the following list of documents of a foreigner who is going to be hired:

  • copy of the passport;
  • a copy of the diploma confirming the qualification;
  • medical certificates;
  • 2 photos on matte paper (dimensions should be 3.5 by 4.5);
  • certificate of no criminal record;
  • a certificate stating that the job for which the foreigner is hired does not provide for citizenship or access to state secrets.

Documents of a foreigner must be translated into Ukrainian. An Apostille translation is required.

What is important for a foreigner to know about living in Ukraine?

When there is a work permit in Ukraine, this is not enough to live here. You need to get a temporary residence permit. It is possible for a period of no more than a year. But such a nuance is absolutely no reason to be upset by those who want to live in Ukraine longer. If a person continues to work here, he can renew this permit. The main thing is to do it on time so that it does not happen that the first permit has expired and the documents for renewal have not been submitted. In this case, it will be an illegal stay in Ukraine.
