What could be the reasons for calling the police department?

The current Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine stipulates that a "summons" ("invitation") to the police department is a measure to ensure criminal proceedings. This procedure must be carried out exclusively in order for the criminal proceedings to be effective.

Summons in criminal proceedings is carried out through a summons (Article 135, part one of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine). The summons must be sent directly to the person who is called to the police. It can also be sent by mail (including electronic). The main condition is that the summons is issued no later than 3 days before the appointed date of arrival at the police department.

A call to the police can also be made by telegram or phone. However, the fact of its implementation is not recorded. That is why this option of communication is not considered as a full-fledged basis for holding a person accountable for not coming to a call.
