WHAT PAYMENTS AND BENEFITS CAN BE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES IN THE EVENT OF THE DEATH OF A MILITARY SERVANT?

In accordance with Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection", the families of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine are granted appropriate benefits.

Thus, the family of a deceased serviceman has the right to benefits in connection with the free receipt of medicines, medicinal products and benefits for annual medical examinations, etc. This group also includes health resort treatment and receiving compensation for the cost of such treatment.

Also, one of the benefits is a 50% discount on the payment for the use of housing and communal services. Also, with regard to housing, there is an allowance for repairs, namely:

• non-scheduled free capital repairs of own residential buildings;
• priority ongoing repairs of residential buildings and apartments.

Extraordinary provision of housing is available to the relatives of the fallen defenders who need to improve living conditions. Also, one of the benefits is receiving a loan for the construction, reconstruction or major repair of residential buildings, and the available priority right to join housing and construction cooperatives.

Families of fallen servicemen are given a 50% discount on fuel for sale to the public.

Also, families are provided with temporary disability benefits in the amount of 100% of the average salary, regardless of length of service. Regarding the ability to work, relatives have a greater right to remain at work when the number of employees is reduced due to changes in the organization of production and to employment in the event of liquidation of the enterprise, as well as the use of the next annual leave at a convenient time for them.

Family members are given priority use of all communication services and installation of apartment phones on preferential terms.

Also, relatives are given educational benefits - admission outside of the competition to state and communal institutions of higher and professional pre-higher education. Privilege for admission to institutions of higher and professional pre-university education is granted to children of participants in hostilities on the territory of other states who were killed (missing) or died as a result of injuries, contusions or mutilations received during hostilities and conflicts on the territory of other states, as well as as a result of the disease associated with being on the territory of other states during these actions and conflicts.

Also, in accordance with Articles 16, 17, 18 of the Law of Ukraine "On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families", in the event of the death of a serviceman, his family members have the right to one-time monetary assistance.

In the event of the death of a fallen serviceman, conscript and reservist, a one-time cash benefit is assigned and paid in the amount of 500 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons on the date of death, and is divided equally between family members, parents and dependents.
