Rules of entry and stay in Ukraine for citizens of foreign countries

The stay of foreigners and stateless persons on the territory of Ukraine is regulated by a number of legislative acts, the main of which is the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons".

This act contains a norm that informs about the possibility of a foreigner to stay in the territory of Ukraine within the framework of a valid visa obtained in diplomatic and/or consular institutions of Ukraine abroad:

• on the basis of a period of stay of 90 days;
• on the basis of documents that allow temporary or permanent residence in the territory of Ukraine (namely: a temporary residence permit in Ukraine, a permit for permanent residence in Ukraine);
• as well as on the basis of special documents, such as a certificate of temporary protection, a temporary certificate of a citizen of Ukraine, etc.

What could it be?

For example, if you are going to Ukraine on a D-14 visa (family reunification), you must have at least an original marriage certificate. in the worst case – a private invitation from the wife or simultaneous entry into Ukraine together with her. If the purpose of the trip is to study: obtaining a higher or special education, then, in addition to the above-mentioned documents, you must have with you an invitation from the university and a request letter for the entry of the applicant/student, which, in turn, must be sent shortly before entering Ukraine to the e-mail address of the Border Service and/or to the relevant checkpoint.

Evidence of sufficient financial support is, for example, a certificate from the bank about the existence of an account in a Ukrainian bank with funds, an electronic statement from the bank, or just cash. The amount of money that must be carried in order for a foreigner to be allowed into Ukraine is not determined, the border guard subjectively assesses the situation.
