Payments to military personnel undergoing treatment

If an officer, sergeant, private or person of senior staff has an illness and is undergoing treatment in connection with the relevant conclusion of the Military Medical Commission, she receives financial support for the last full-time position she held. This can last up to 4 months. Exceptions are specific situations where it is possible to stay on treatment beyond this period. When it comes to the calculation of financial support, this includes everything except sea support and rewards. This means that we are talking about the salary for the military rank, seniority allowance, official salary and monthly types of financial support.

How the treatment continues?

If 4 months of continuous treatment have passed, the financial support is paid further under 2 conditions:

• further stay on leave for treatment is provided for by the norms of current legal acts;
• is a relevant decision of the unit commander or the head of the higher-level military management body, the basis for which was the conclusion of the Military Medical Commission.

In this case, while continuing the treatment, the soldier will continue to receive the appropriate financial support.

When additional remuneration is paid?

If a soldier is being treated for an injury he received while defending the Motherland, he is paid an additional reward in the amount of 100,000 hryvnias. If a military person has an injury, contusion, or disability for this reason, he does not even have to be continuously hospitalized to receive the mentioned amount. When a serviceman will undergo treatment for these reasons again, during each such stay he must receive a reward of 100,000 hryvnias. This applies to treatment not only in Ukrainian, but also in foreign medical institutions.

The basis for issuing an order to pay such compensation is a certificate on the circumstances of the injury issued by the commander of the Military Unit. When the heads of the Military Medical Commission of health care institutions of the Ministry of Defense give a recommendation to a soldier about the need for a leave due to his health, medical reports are also provided at the same time, which contain information about the severity of the injury and the payment of a reward in the amount of 100 thousand hryvnias for the duration of the leave provided for treatment.

If servicemen are undergoing treatment for a long time, it is allowed to enroll them at the disposal of commanders. As for financial support for military personnel (except for conscripts) in such cases, it is paid in accordance with the positions held, but it can last no more than 2 months. Regarding the extension of payment terms, this is possible only by order of the Minister of Defense.
