Payment for the death of a serviceman
Serving in the army is associated with great risk, especially during armed conflicts and wars. Unfortunately, the death of servicemen is a tragic reality. To support the families of the deceased, Ukraine has statutory payments and benefits that help to partially compensate for the loss of a loved one. Payments for the death of a serviceman are an important component of the social protection system in Ukraine. In order to receive these payments, it is necessary to follow the established procedure and timely apply to the relevant state authorities.
The types of payments may be as follows:
- One-time financial assistance, the amount of payment is determined by the current legislation. It can reach several million hryvnias, such as the payment of 15 million hryvnias, which is a significant assistance provided to the families of deceased servicemen. Usually, this amount is distributed among the closest relatives: wife, children, parents.
- Financial assistance for burial. The state provides financial assistance for the burial of a fallen serviceman. This includes compensation for the costs of organizing the burial and related funeral services.
- Social benefits In addition to monetary payments, families of fallen servicemen are entitled to a number of social benefits, such as free public transportation and discounts on utilities.
In this article, we will consider the procedure, conditions and peculiarities of receiving this payment.
The procedure for receiving the payment
- Applying to a military unit or institution. The relatives of the deceased must contact the command of the military unit where the deceased served to obtain confirmation of the fact of death.
- Obtaining a death certificate. After confirming the fact of death, the family receives a death certificate from the relevant state authorities.
- Preparation of the necessary documents. Relatives must collect a package of documents, which may include a death certificate, documents confirming kinship, and other necessary certificates.
- Applying to the relevant authorities to receive the payment.
Conditions for receiving the payment
