OBTAINING THE PASSPORT OF A CITIZEN OF UKRAINE BY GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF ORIGIN

 This article will consider such a condition for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship as birth or residence in the territory that, after the acquisition of independence by Ukraine, belongs to the state of Ukraine. This applies to persons who were born or lived on Ukrainian territory before August 24, 1991 and before that date left the chapels of Ukraine for their own reasons.

 According to the text of Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine "On Citizenship of Ukraine", a foreigner or a stateless person who pledged to withdraw and renounce the citizenship of another country, who applied for a Ukrainian passport, including their children under the age of majority, will be recognized as citizens of the state of Ukraine if they meet the following condition:

a person applying for a passport of a citizen of Ukraine or one of his relatives, namely parents, children, grandmothers, grandfathers, grandchildren, brothers and sisters (purebred or half-blooded), lived permanently or were born before August 24, 1991 on the territory of the Ukrainian Soviet The Socialist Republic, which became the territory of Ukraine after the recognition of Ukraine's independence in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the Succession of Ukraine" or on the territory that was part of the Ukrainian state, the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, the Ukrainian People's Republic, the Ukrainian Socialist Soviet Republic, the Carpathian Ukraine.

How to apply and receive the service?

• Collect the required documents;
• Visit the territorial unit of the SMS at your place of residence;
• Submit an application with the required documents;

 The documents required for filing differ and depend on the specific basis for acquiring citizenship in accordance with clauses 24-44 of the Procedure regulating the proceedings on applications and representations related to citizenship and the execution of decisions approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On some aspects of the implementation of the Law of Ukraine" About citizenship".

 If a person submits on the basis of his place of birth or place of birth of one of the relatives, then you need to collect the following list of documents:

a) a statement that the person wants to obtain a Ukrainian passport by territorial origin;

b) photos in the amount of 2 pcs. (35 x 45 mm);

c) depending on the status of the applicant, one of the following documents:

- for the category of stateless persons, this document is a declaration of the absence of foreign citizenship;

- for foreigners, it is an obligation to terminate foreign citizenship;

- for refugees, this is a declaration of renunciation of another citizenship together with a document confirming the granting of a refugee or asylum status to a person in Ukraine;

- for citizens of the Russian Federation who have been persecuted for political beliefs, this is a declaration on the refusal of a citizen of the Russian Federation from his citizenship, along with a document confirming the persecution for political beliefs;

- for foreigners from countries that provide for the procedure for automatic termination of citizenship in connection with the receipt of a new one, this official paper has an application for a change of citizenship;

d) a copy of a document that confirms the fact of birth in the above territories, for example, a birth certificate;

e) a copy of documents certifying the relationship of the applicant with a relative born in the territories indicated above.

 If a person submits on the basis of his permanent residence or residence of one of the relatives in one of the above territories, then you need to collect the documents provided for in subparagraphs "a" - "c" and other documents listed below:

- a document confirming the fact of permanent residence in the indicated territories of a relative of a person who wants to obtain citizenship;

- a copy of the applicant's birth certificate or other documents certifying the applicant's relationship with a relative who permanently resided in the territory mentioned above.

As a result, you will receive a certificate of registration as a citizen of Ukraine (this certificate serves as the basis for issuing a passport of a citizen of Ukraine) at the territorial body or subdivision of the SMS at your place of residence.

 When submitting an application and other documents for obtaining citizenship, a person must present a passport or a replacement document certifying the identity of the applicant, as well as a document certifying the applicant's place of residence in Ukraine or permanent residence abroad. If necessary, a certified Ukrainian translation of this document should be submitted.
