The status of a combatant is a confirmation that a person performed tasks in military operations. In other words, she participated directly in the war. As early as 2014, the issue of obtaining the status of the CPS became important, because it enabled citizens who fought to receive benefits and compensation established by law. If there were only one requirement for a full-scale invasion to obtain CPS status, then in 2022 these requirements have changed somewhat.

If we analyze the normative acts related to obtaining the status of CPS, then it was clearly stated in them that the right to obtain this status belongs to those servicemen who took part in hostilities on the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions. But after February 24, the territory of hostilities spread to other territories, which led to the need to make changes to the relevant legislative acts.

Conditions for obtaining the status of CPS

The basis for obtaining the status of a participant in hostilities is the performance of combat tasks by a serviceman. If until 2022 there was a requirement regarding the mandatory number of days in combat operations, now this requirement has been canceled. In fact, participation in hostilities for one or two years is the basis for obtaining the status of the CPS.

How to confirm the completion of combat missions?

It is clear that in order to confirm participation in hostilities, a serviceman must provide certain documents. Such documents include: logs of combat operations, field letters, logs of shift reports, combat reports, etc. That is, it can be one or more documents that confirm the fact of the serviceman's participation in hostilities.

How to get?

The commander of the unit in which the serviceman serves or the serviceman himself must apply to the specially created commission at the military unit. Submit the list of documents mentioned above for consideration by the commission. After reviewing the submitted documents, the commission makes a decision on granting or refusing to grant the status of CPS.

If the serviceman does not agree with the decision, he can be appealed in accordance with the procedure established by law.
