HOW TO MOVE TO UKRAINE FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE?

It is important to start with the fact that you need to understand correctly what the term "immigration" means - it is the arrival for permanent residence.

First of all, you need to get an immigration permit, which can be:

  • Within the quota
  • Out of quota

Where to apply for a permit?

  • If you are in Ukraine legally, then to the State Migration Service;
  • If you are abroad, then to the diplomatic institutions of Ukraine in the country of your stay/at the place of your residence abroad.

Let's return to the item "Immigration permit"

The first category of migrants subject to obtaining a permit for immigration within the framework of the quota includes:

  • Workers of culture and science (documents: confirmation of the petition for immigration by the central body of the executive power of Ukraine)
  • Workers and leading specialists (copies of documents confirming the level of qualification of a specialist or worker to the requirements. The requirements are provided for in the list approved by the State Service of Ukraine on Labor Issues)
  • Persons who have made a foreign investment in the Ukrainian economy (amount – from $100,000).

Documents: • copies of the charter and/or registered agreements (contracts) on investment activities; • a certificate from the bank on the receipt of foreign investments in the economy of Ukraine in foreign currency (converted to hryvnias) in the amount of at least 100,000 US dollars.

  • Persons who are brothers/sisters, grandparents, grandchildren of citizens of Ukraine (documents: copies of documents proving kinship)
  • Persons who previously had Ukrainian citizenship (previous passport, copies)
  • The immigrant's husband, wife, parents and minor children (documents: proof of family relations with the immigrant, a document on the immigrant's non-objection to the children's immigration and guaranteeing them financial support at a level not less than the subsistence minimum established in Ukraine)
  • A person who suffered from human trafficking and from the date of establishment of this status has lived continuously in the territory of Ukraine for 3 years (documents: • confirmation of status; • confirmation of continuous stay in Ukraine for 3 years)
  • Persons who have served in the Armed Forces for more than three years (documents: the fact of military service in the Armed Forces).

The second category of migrants who are subject to obtaining a permit for immigration outside the quota include:

  • One of the spouses, if they have been married for more than 2 years and one of them is a citizen of Ukraine (documents: marriage certificates, copies of passports, immigrant documents)
  • Parents and children of citizens of Ukraine (documents: those certifying family ties)
  • Persons who are guardians or custodians of citizens of Ukraine, or are under the guardianship or guardianship of citizens of Ukraine (documents: on their appointment as such)
  • Persons of territorial origin (• this person personally, • at least one of the parents, • grandparents, • brothers/sisters, • children, • grandchildren. Also IMPORTANT: if this person was born or permanently resided before August 24, 1991 on the territory that later became modern Ukraine)
  • A person whose immigration is in the public interest
  • Foreign Ukrainians, their spouses, their children (documents: all that confirm granting them such status)

Necessary documents

The following documents must be submitted together with the permit application:

  • Three photo cards (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • A copy of the identity document
  • Document about the place of residence
  • If married, a copy of the marriage certificate
  • A document that you do not suffer from chronic alcoholism, drug addiction, drug addiction or infectious diseases, the list of which is determined by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (this document is not presented - if you have been married to a citizen of Ukraine for more than 2 years, children and parents citizens of Ukraine, persons entitled to citizenship by territorial origin)
  • Receipt for payment of state duty or consular fee (if required)
  • Foreigners submit a certificate of criminal record in their native country
  • Documents regarding the quotas mentioned above.

Important: the application is submitted in person to the State Migration Service of Ukraine.

If there are good reasons why you are unable to submit these documents in person, then the application can be sent by mail or submitted through a notarial power of attorney by a third party.
