Grants for small businesses in Ukraine. Program overview – 2023

In Ukraine, there are many programs and grants designed to support small businesses. However, the availability and terms of these grants depend on many factors, including the type of business, location, size, and stage of development. In this article, we will review grants for small businesses in Ukraine as of April 2023.

To date, the following programs can be distinguished:

• Our business is assistance from UAH 50,000 to 250,000 for enterprises helping to develop and launch new business projects, including coffee shops, bakeries, hairdressers, service stations, dry cleaners, and clothing tailoring enterprises. The beneficiary can use the aid to purchase business materials, technical equipment, advertising or marketing, as well as leasing and commercial concessions. In addition, under the terms of the grant, the recipient of the grant must create at least 1 job at the enterprise.
• Own greenhouse - help up to 7 million UAH. for the creation of a new or development of an existing greenhouse facility, the Beneficiary may use the funds to purchase technical equipment or purchase various types of materials for sowing. The aid also provides for the creation of at least 40 jobs.
• Own processing enterprise - assistance up to 8 million hryvnia for the development or creation of a processing enterprise in the country. The goal of the program is to increase the amount of recycled products on the territory of the state, since most of the secondary raw materials are subject to processing and use. The beneficiary can use the money to purchase various equipment for the enterprise or to increase the production capacity of the enterprise. The terms of the grant provide for the creation of at least 25 jobs at the enterprise.

• Own garden - assistance for the development or creation of a new garden, berry, vineyard ranging in size from 1 to 25 hectares. It is provided only on the terms of co-financing - up to 400 thousand UAH. per 1 ha, but not more than 70% of the cost of the entire planting project. The terms of the grant also provide for the employment of 6-10 permanent workers at the enterprise and the recruitment of 125 to 425 seasonal workers, depending on the planting crop and the size of the planting area.
• "IT-startup" - assistance in the amount of up to UAH 3.5 million. to create new jobs and high-tech companies. The beneficiary can use the funds to pay off wage arrears of the company's employees, purchase technical equipment and software for it, pay for various consulting services, etc. The conditions of the grant involve the creation of at least 3 jobs, but taking into account what stage of development the startup is at.
• "Start in IT" is a program that helps Ukrainians without IT qualifications or work experience to enter the IT profession. Funds are used to obtain certificates for the passage of relevant courses in the field of IT.

It should be noted that the last two grant programs are still under development and are not open for applications.
