Citizenship of Ukraine is a legal relationship between an individual and the state, which are manifested in mutual rights and obligations.
 The grounds for obtaining the citizenship of Ukraine may be as follows: by territorial origin, by birth, as a result of guardianship or guardianship / acceptance of citizenship of Ukraine / presence of Ukrainian citizenship by one of the parents.

 According to the current legislation of Ukraine, there are 2 options for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship:

 Obtaining citizenship of Ukraine under the simplified procedure – in accordance with the provisions of Articles 3, 7, 8, 10 of the Law of Ukraine “On Citizenship of Ukraine” takes from 1 to 3 months and is available to those who, up to the time of August 24, 1991 years of permanent residence in the territory of Ukraine. Foreigners who were born on the territory of Ukraine or relatives before 1991 also have such an opportunity. Obtaining citizenship of Ukraine under the simplified scheme is possible in case of restoration of citizenship of Ukraine;

 Obtaining citizenship of Ukraine in the general manner – in accordance with the provisions of Articles 9, 12 of the Law of Ukraine “On Citizenship of Ukraine” takes 1 year.

 It is worth noting that the conditions for acceptance of Ukrainian citizenship are quite simple:

– recognition and adherence to the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine and other normative legal acts;
– permanent residence on the territory of Ukraine legally over the last 5 years;
– obtaining a permit for immigration;
– mastery of the state language or understanding of it in a volume sufficient for communication;
– the presence of legitimate sources of income.

 However, it is also worth noting that there are conditions that do not allow Ukrainian citizenship to be obtained in the following cases:

– committing a crime against humanity by a foreigner or committing genocide;
– a foreigner is sentenced in Ukraine to imprisonment for committing a serious or especially grave crime (before maturity or conviction), taking into account the level of threat to the national security of the state;
– the foreigner has committed in the territory of another state an act which is recognized by the legislation of Ukraine as a serious or especially serious crime.

 Citizenship for foreign nationals or stateless persons provides many benefits for living in Ukraine. Upon obtaining Ukrainian citizenship, foreign citizens receive a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, which opens many opportunities for the holder of such a document. Some of the aforementioned possibilities include simplified formal employment procedures, visa requirements for traveling abroad, registration by an individual entrepreneur, or registration of a business entity.

 The result of obtaining citizenship of Ukraine is a certificate of registration of a person by a citizen of Ukraine who gives the right to obtain a passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
