Calculation of pension supplement for overtime

Due to the implementation of the pension reform in Ukraine, the conditions for calculating and assigning pensions are changing. The retirement age and the required length of insurance experience for the appointment of an old-age pension are gradually increasing. At the same time, the norm regarding pension supplements for each full year of service above the established minimum is maintained.

When is a surcharge necessary?

The legislation of Ukraine provides for the payment of a pension for overtime. According to the law, for each additional year of service over 35 years for men and 30 years for women, the pension increases by 1% of the amount of the pension calculated in accordance with the Law. However, the maximum increase is limited to 1% of the minimum age pension or the amount of the living wage for disabled persons.

Importantly! The law does not establish any restrictions on the maximum number of years of overtime service, which will be taken into account when calculating the additional payment.

How to get extra payment?

In order to receive the appropriate supplement, you must:

• Submit an application to the Pension Fund of Ukraine for the appointment of a supplement;
• Provide a certificate on the total number of years of insurance experience.

A certificate on the total number of years of insurance experience can be obtained from the bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, as well as the Territorial bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or on the web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Importantly! Supplements to the pension are assigned to pensioners who have been granted an old-age pension in accordance with current legislation.

What about additional payments to military personnel?

For military personnel, as well as for other pensioners, the general procedure for calculating overtime pay applies. However, there are some peculiarities that must be taken into account.

Difference in insurance experience

According to the legislation of Ukraine, for military personnel, the number of years of insurance experience required for the appointment of an old-age pension is:

25 years - for men;
20 years - for women.

How to get additional payment for military personnel?

For a military serviceman, in order to receive an additional payment, it is necessary to carry out a similar procedure of submitting an application for the appointment of an additional payment to the Pension Fund of Ukraine and providing a certificate of the total number of years of insurance experience. However, providing a certificate of military service is optional.

A certificate of military service can be obtained from the personnel office of the military unit where the military service took place.

Additional information about military personnel

• For servicemen who are entitled to a long-service pension, the overtime supplement is calculated only for the insurance experience acquired after reaching the age of 25 (for men) or 20 (for women).
• For servicemen who have the right to receive an old-age pension, the overtime supplement is calculated for the entire insurance period acquired before reaching retirement age.
• For servicemen who have the right to receive a disability pension, overtime pay is calculated for the entire insurance period acquired before the onset of disability.
