Application for appointment of old-age pension

Ukraine is a state governed by the rule of law, so despite the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and difficult economic conditions, the payment of pensions continues. An appeal regarding the appointment of an old-age pension can be made at any time from the moment of the right to it, but not earlier than one month before the person reaches retirement age.

How to submit an application?

There are 3 main formats for applying for an old-age pension:

• visiting the relevant territorial body of the PFU;
• through the web portal of electronic services of PFU or Diya;
• through an authorized official of the institution, enterprise or organization where you work.

The specific format depends on whether the person is currently working. If so, then the third item is suitable here, and if not, then the first or second. When a person wants to use the services of the Diya portal, a qualified electronic signature certificate is required for this.

Now let's move on to what needs to be provided to the Pension Fund, in addition to the statement itself.

What documents are needed?

So, among the list of documents:

• application for pension payment through the post office or banking institutions. In the first case, you just need to indicate that the applicant wants to receive a pension by mail, and in the second case, add a certificate of opening a corresponding bank account;
• a color photo card (its size should be 4x6 and it is needed to issue a pension certificate);
• passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
• information about the place of residence;
• TIN certificate;
• documents to confirm work experience (work book and other documents specified in the "Procedure for confirmation of existing work experience for assigning pensions in the absence of work book or relevant entries in it", which was approved by Cabinet Resolution № 637 dated 12.08.1993);
• certificate of salary of the person, which must include the period of insurance experience until 01.07.2000 (and starting from 01.07.2000 – individual information about the insured person is provided).

If the pensioner has a special status (for example, he is a military man, a "Chernobyl" or a person with a disability), it is necessary to provide documents confirming this status. When it comes to citizens living in the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and directly in the city of Sevastopol, there must also be a statement in an arbitrary form that the pensioner does not have Russian citizenship.

What else is important to know?

Documents regarding seniority, age and salary are submitted exclusively in originals. As for other documents, the current legislation provides for the possibility of submitting notarized copies. If the documents are submitted through the Diya portal, an electronic signature based on the corresponding qualified certificate is placed on the scanned copies of the documents.

The PF must consider the application regarding the appointment of a pension within 10 days, agreeing to it or providing a reasoned refusal with an explanation of the appeal procedure.
