Verkhovna Rada Adopts Law to Protect Against Agriarchs

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Amendments to the Land Code of Ukraine and Some Other Legislative Acts for Combating Raiding." 235 people's deputies voted in favor of this decision, with the required minimum of 226 votes. The draft law provided the state cadastral registrars with online access to the information contained in the State Register of Real Estate Rights.

In addition, state registrars should be granted the right of online access to all information contained in the State Land Cadastre. According to the document, state registrars of rights should check not only the information in the State Register of Real Estate Rights, but also the availability of relevant information in the State Land Cadastre. The state registrar is obliged to check during the registration that the person who applied for registration is entitled to take such actions. It is also obliged to check the availability of real estate information in other state registers. However, the State Registrar of Rights is obliged to leave without consideration the application for registration of the right to real estate, if the cadastral number of the land plot is absent in the State Land Cadastre. The enacted law also provides for increased administrative liability for registrars in the event of their unlawful acts during registration.
