According to statistics, more than 10% of all garages were installed in violation of current legislation. Such samobuds can be demolished by decision of the city council administration. The first step is to submit an application to the architecture department at the owner’s place of residence. The following documents should be attached to the application:

In the absence of this document, permission from the land owner will be required.
- Construction project.

The term of consideration of submitted documents is 10 days. This term is sufficient to verify the information specified in the documents. In addition, experts carry out a survey of the land plot.
If we are talking about obtaining a permit to build a garage in the yard of a multi-story building, the procedure for issuing permit documents is more complicated. This is due to the fact that the adjoining territory is the common property of all home owners. By law, it cannot be privatized. The only option is to get a plot remote from the yard, the area of which is 0.01 ha. This can be done only on the basis of the decision of the city council to allocate a plot of land for your use.

Is it possible to arrange a self-built garage?
If the garage has already been built, it needs to be legalized urgently. If this is not done, it will fall under the category of “self-build”. For this you will need:
- Carrying out a technical inspection.
- Production of a technical passport.
- Submission of a declaration on the readiness of the garage for commissioning.
- Completion of the procedure for registration of the right of ownership in the State Register.
As for the metal garage, it is not subject to legalization. It is sufficient to have a document that will serve as confirmation of the right to own (use) the land plot on which it is located.
