VR a year delayed the introduction of the Institute of Criminal Offenses

On December 3, the Verkhovna Rada passed the Law on Delay of the Law, which introduced the institute of criminal misconduct.

 This Act amends Section 1, Section II, "Transitional Provisions" of Law 2617-VIII, specifying the date of its entry into force on January 1, 2021.
Recall that Law No. 2617-VIII of November 22, 2018 amended the Criminal Code, which introduced the institution of criminal misconduct. The changes touched upon both the concept of the act in respect of which criminal protection is protected (Article 11 of the Criminal Code) and its types (Article 12 of the Criminal Code). In accordance with the amendments made, which previously belonged to the category of minor crimes (Part 2 of Article 12 of the Criminal Code), it was transferred to the category of criminal offenses.

 The law establishes a mechanism for rapid investigation of criminal offenses of low gravity and reduces the burden on investigative bodies of pre-trial investigation, since their powers during pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses can be exercised by officers of other units, in particular, bodies of the National Police, security, law enforcement agencies .
